Ye Olde Chip Truck : By Rick Vandervleit

Fries Worth Flying For
Once feted by the CBC for serving the best french fries in Canada, Ye Olde Chip Truck in downtown Kenora, Ontario, has been known to lure jet-setting vacationers off their flight plans thanks to its coveted, deep-fried specialty. Muskie hunters bound for Kenora's Lake of the Woods take note.

Kenora
Ye Olde Chip Truck has been a Kenora institution since the 1950's, loved by cottagers, tourists and locals alike. Even Jean Chrétien has braved the lineup for the fires. After the local landmark changed hand several times over the past few years, the town was concerned that the chip truck was going to be deep-sixed. After all, no one left Kenora without stopping for french fries. Locals Lisa and Rob Bell came to the rescue last fall and bought the truck, keeping it "what it was." The secret step to their thick fries stays with them but the potatoes are fresh and hand cut. There is always a long line-up during the summer, and locals who refuse to wait buy only in the winter.
